Who is Megin Kennett?
Megin Kennett is the Founder and Managing Director of K2 Consulting Solutions LLC, where she helps organizations navigate the often-complex intersection of cybersecurity, compliance, technology, and business growth. With more than 20 years of experience spanning IT consulting, cybersecurity, marketing, and business development, Megin has built K2 around a simple philosophy: understand where clients need to go, make the path clearer, and help them get there in a practical and affordable way.
A Virginia Tech graduate and Fairfax native, Megin began her career in technology more than two decades ago as an intern with Federal Computer Week in Northern Virginia. With a father whose career included service at the NSA and a family legacy of military service, technology, national security, and public service have long been part of her world. Today, those influences continue to shape her commitment to supporting organizations serving the Defense Industrial Base and private sector.
Megin is equally passionate about the community she calls home. After settling in Hampton Roads, she was selected for the 2017 LEAD757 Signature Class and was named one of Inside Business’ Top 40 Under 40 that same year. She later served on the Hampton Roads Smart City Task Force, contributing her telecommunications experience to regional efforts that helped advance conversations around connectivity, infrastructure, and the digital divide.
Through K2, Megin and her team have also supported the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s VALET program as a cybersecurity trade partner, helping Virginia businesses better understand cybersecurity foundations such as Incident Response, compliance and the evolving requirements of doing business in an increasingly connected world.
Beyond her professional work, Megin believes strongly in giving back. Over the years, she has volunteered her time and experience with organizations including Surfers Healing, the Virginia Beach Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia, and the Virginia Beach Technology & Innovation Commission.
At the heart of Megin’s work is something straightforward: she enjoys connecting people, solving problems, and making complicated things feel a little less complicated.
